Skechers has become the first brand to secure a coveted advertising slot during the Super Bowl LIX, set for February 9, 2025, in New Orleans. This strategic move comes hot on the heels of the 2024 NFL schedule release, capitalizing on the excitement of football fans.
It marks the 12th time the footwear giant will grace the Big Game, and according to Skechers President Michael Greenberg, they are aiming for their biggest and best commercial yet.
“From the Euros to Paris, this is a piv\otal year for athletic competition, and Skechers will be there through every moment”, Greenberg said. “The Super Bowl is the best stage in all of sports to communicate Skechers’ comfort and innovation message.”
Skechers boasts a history of memorable Super Bowl commercials. The brand’s first appearance starred Joe Montana in 2010, and this year, it featured Mr. T and Tony Romo. Other notable past Skechers Super Bowl commercial highlights include Snoop Dogg, Martha Stewart and Mark Cuban.
An Unprecedent Move For The Footwear Brand
Skechers typically waits until February to announce its Super Bowl ad plans. This early commitment, nine months ahead of the Big Game, demonstrates a strategic shift, showcasing the brand’s confidence and momentum.
Skechers is experiencing a resurgence in its wholesale business, reversing a trend of sluggish performance. The third-largest athletic footwear brand said last month sales involving retailers rose nearly 10% globally in the first quarter from a year earlier, to around $1.4 billion, driven by a focus on product innovation and attractive pricing for value-conscious consumers.
