Alco-pop brand Red Square is launching a £6 million television and outdoor advertising campaign featuring Bo Selecta star Avid Merrion.
The Christmas campaign will feature the strapline “What Colour’s Your redSQUARE?” and will run throughout December. It will be supported by a series of outdoor ads in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle promoting redSQUARE’s nationwide sampling campaign.
The television ads will feature Merrion doing impressions of a dog wagging its tail and explaining that his pet is stupid because it has failed to bring him home the right colour redSQUARE!
Commenting on the campaign, Richard Clark, marketing manager at Halewood International, said: “These TV ads are classic Avid, Bo Selecta fans will absolutely love them. Avid does a great job of communicating the brand’s personality as being edgy, fun and being full of the party spirit.”
He continued: “They quickly gained cult status among our 18-24 year old target audience first time around and we expect that the new version will make people laugh even louder.”
Earlier this year the Government revealed plans to crack down on alcohol advertising with a public education campaign specifically designed to combat the growing problems posed by alco-pops and other products targeted at younger drinkers (see Government Considers Clampdown On Alcohol Advertising).
