Internet Portals Launch Pan-European Advertising Network

A group of leading internet service providers and portals have joined forces in an attempt to make it easier for brands to launch pan-European advertising campaigns.

Freeserve, Wanadoo, Web.de and Libero have launched a new advertising network across six countries – UK, France, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands and Italy, in response to the increasing demand for integrated online campaigns.

Wanadoo provides the presence in Spain, the Netherlands and France, as well as in the UK through its Freeserve subsidiary. Web.de covers the German market and Libero provides the presence in Italy.

The portals claim the network gives advertisers access to around 30 million unique users, 2 billion page impression per month and a very high reach rate in each market, with each portal ranking among the top five in its territory.

According to Freeserve: “The initiative answers customer demand for a powerful pan-European resource and reflects the increase in online advertising spend across Europe. Its structure gives a single point of contact for the customer and allows fast and flexible country specific consulting.”

It is understood that Freeserve’s advertising sales team has been working more closely with Wanadoo over the past several months with the intention of expanding their advertising reach into new markets.

Freeserve is thought to be in the process of finalising plans to rebrand under the name of its French parent company, Wanadoo. The £30 million rebranding of the internet service provider has been under considering since the middle of last year, but was thought to have been postponed amid concerns that Wanadoo lacked consumer awareness in the UK (see Freeserve Could Rebrand As Wanadoo).
