Digital marketing company, ValueClick, has secured the ad sales contract for web-to-phone text message provider, Fonetastic, in a deal designed to offer advertisers greater access to the online youth market.
The deal will see ValueClick manage third party sales of Fonetastic’s database of 2.2 million mobile phone users and its portfolio of youth-focussed websites, which includes ministryofsound.com, just35.com and student123.com.
According to ValueClick, the deal will provide advertisers with opportunities for integrated marketing campaigns across a range of online formats, including banners, buttons, pop-ups, sponsorships and advertorials. Cross-platform campaigns incorporating web, email and SMS marketing will also be available.
Commenting on the deal, Sarah Escott, commercial director at ValueClick, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer another highly targeted consumer audience to advertisers. We are seeing a growing demand for integrated campaigns aimed at the youth sector and expect advertisers to see this as an attractive online marketing option.”
The online advertising industry received a boost last month with news that the Interactive Advertising Bureau has appointed former ITV and Pearson chief executive, Richard Eyre, as its chairman. Eyre will head the IAB Leadership Council of 20 leading online companies and will front a concerted drive to double the share of internet advertising from 1% to 2% by autumn next year (see IAB Appoints Eyre To Drive Growth Of Online Advertising).
