Broadband and digital TV provider, HomeChoice, has announced an extension to the range of its services, covering an additional 100,000 homes across London and the south-east, marking the company’s first venture outside the M25.
The expansion will build upon the 1.25 million households already able to receive HomeChoice’s services, bringing an additional six telephone exchanges into its catchment area. The work is due to begin in November and should be completed by January 2005 at the latest.
Commenting on the boost to availability, Roger Lynch, chairman and CEO of HomeChoice’s parent company, Video Networks Ltd, said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer HomeChoice to thousands more households within London and the South-East. We have made significant developments to the HomeChoice service recently. This combined with the reduced cost of local loop unbundling means we are looking forward to our continued expansion throughout London”.
As well as expanding its HomeChoice network, VNL will now offer customers the option of having wireless internet installed in their homes, allowing up to three computers to be connected to broadband through the HomeChoice set top box without the need for cabling.
Explaining the new product strand, Lynch explained : “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers the option of wireless Internet connection, allowing our subscribers greater mobility and flexibility with their HomeChoice service. The wireless connection supports our desire to deliver a user-friendly and flexible service that offers the best in choice, entertainment and ease of use.”
Earlier this month HomeChoice unveiled a wide-ranging promotional campaign, costing £2 million and designed to dominate London’s media. The activity will range from posters on London Underground, to massive coverage in print and radio media across the capital. Featuring the strapline ‘Demand More’, the campaign focuses on the company’s package of high speed broadband, over 1,000 on-demand movies, over 80 digital television channels and an on-demand replay service (see HomeChoice Unveils Campaign To Dominate London’s Media).
