Tribal DDB Strengthens Offering With New Appointments

Digital marketing outfit Tribal DDB has strengthened its senior management team with a number of key appointments designed to improve the quality of service it offers advertisers.

The agency has recruited Neil Hughston, former board account director at Publicis Networks, as head of client services. Nigel Palmer from Delany Lund Knox Warren has been appointed senior account director and Robin O’Neill joins from Media Planning Group as the firm’s new head of media.

Hughston will work alongside managing director, Ciaran Deering, to expand the business, enhance client relations and continue to integrate brand activity across digital and traditional media to add value to Tribal DDB’s clients.

The position will see Hughston take charge of the agency’s British Gas account, a client for whom he has been working for some three years. He will also oversee nine other account managers within the agency.

During his time at Publicis Networks, Hughston was responsible for delivering integrated campaigns across brands including The Woolwich, Asda and the COI. He also has experience across a variety of blue chip advertisers in the retailing, youth and financial sectors.

Deering said: “We work with a number of big brands that are committed to us long-term, on a retainer-basis. Client service plays a very significant role in both the day-to-day activity, as well as in planning future strategies. Neil intends to innovate: adding a new dimension to the department, building a strong team of staff dedicated and challenging our processes to ensure that we deliver the best service possible.”

Palmer will take on responsibility for Volkswagen as senior account director, replacing Nikki Ross who recently left the agency. O’Neill replaces Martin Kelly in a position that will see him take on clients such as Nationwide and Camelot.

Hughston said: “The digital channel is here to stay and has become part of everyday life for consumers and therefore an important channel for client businesses. We can help clients really understand what online communications can achieve and bring it further into the marketing mix.”

Earlier this month the Starcom UK Group merged its existing digital operations to create a new division dedicated to putting new media heart of the communications planning process. The outfit has been created in response to the increasing role of new media in the marketing mix (see Starcom UK Launches Dedicated Digital Division).
