Student TV Network Boosts Sales Team

SUBtv Logo National student TV network, SUBtv, has expanded its sales and marketing team following the company’s move out of Digital Media Sales, which previously handled its spot advertising.

The company’s sales team now totals nine staff, handling the firm’s marketing strategies and on air sales across the network of 90 top university campuses.

The company has appointed David Wayne as its first sales administrator and student unions marketing manager, while Jonathan Abrahams also moves to the sales and marketing team, which is led by Cecilie Hage and Jason Barrett.

Explaining the need for expansion, SUBtv chief executive Peter Miles said: “Our own sales people have always handled most of our direct relationships with advertisers and these have been the main factor in growing the business so rapidly.

“It is generally accepted that clients have been driving the growth of media in our sector and we now want to extend our direct relationship with media agencies. We have already booked 60 per cent of our sales target for the student academic year 2005/6 with clients including 3, Vodafone, Titan Poker and Unilever.

“For some clients we have started creating campaigns too, such as the recent TV licence evasion campaign planned through Proximity. Needless to say, the sales target will be revised upwards!”

SUBtv offers advertisers a range of marketing solutions through its network of screens. Earlier this year the company signed a year-long sponsorship deal with Titan Poker, extending its gambling credentials and creating a bespoke, student-facing poker website where SUBtv could arrange online tournaments (see SUBtv Extends Poker Events With Branded Tournament).

Elsewhere the company has engaged in branded promotional events, including the promotion of US-based PokerStars.com through a Texas Hold’em tournament, publicised via the network (see SUBtv Extends Poker Events With Branded Tournament).
