Student union television specialist, SUBtv, is offering advertisers the chance to access 24% of UK 18-24 year olds with six broadcast sponsorship packages for 2005’s 6 Nations rugby championship.
Each package, comprising of live matches and rugby programming, will be broadcast in 77 student unions and allow participating advertisers 25% of the screen space to display their messages, allowing each sponsor 16 minutes exposure per match.
In addition SUBtv will be creating its own exclusive rugby programming schedule, including a classic tries segment, tailors for forthcoming matches and a regional focus allowing relevant messages to be displayed during Scottish, Irish, English and Welsh matches at local venues.
Sponsors will have their credits and messages broadcast six times a day during this programming over the eight weeks it’s running. The package also allows for regionally tailored messages and provides an optional SMS interactive competitions function.
Commenting on the packages, Peter Miles, chief executive of SUBtv said: “Since England’s victory in the Rugby World Cup just over a year ago, general interest in the sport has increased and broadened. Now the 6 Nations championships is attracting much greater attention and generating immense enthusiasm and loyalty within the spots-mad youth market.”
Last month SUBtv announced the creation of a new inter-university games tournament, promoting computer games firm Ubisoft’s latest action game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 2. The tournament will see players from universities across the country battle for supremacy, while filmed by SUBtv and broadcast across its network of plasma screens to union bars nation-wide (see SUBtv Promotes Ubisoft Game With Internet Tournament).
SUBtv also recently signed mobile phone operator 3 as the sponsor of its new Video Jukebox service in 65 student union venues nation-wide (see SUBtv Signs 3 For Video Jukebox Sponsorship).
