RadioCentre Website Could Boost Online Traffic To Radio Stations

Radio Player The recently formed representative body for the commercial radio industry, the RadioCentre, will soon launch its website, potentially boosting online traffic to commercial radio stations.

The site, www.radiocentre.org, will allow visitors to stream and listen to commercial radio stations in the UK, as well as offering detailed information on stations and access to broadcaster’s websites. It will also feature industry news and information on training and events.

Website relaunches for the RAB, RACC and JICRIT will happen after radiocentre.org goes live. In the past year, the RAB website alone received almost 16 million page impressions.

The RAB’s new online presence is to become more streamlined, making it easier for visitors to use. The new site will allow users to search through and download one of the 25,000 radio ads in the site’s database as an MP3.

There will also be a new section offering up latest advertising case studies, a massive archive of data and thought leadership on radio, a new area dedicated to information on digital radio and an “ideas generator” section to aid creative use of the medium.

Also announced is the news that the hit40uk team will join the RadioCentre when it starts operating next month. The team will operate from the industry body’s offices in London, bringing a wealth of expertise in programming and brand development, sales and marketing experience to the commercial radio industry.

Working closely with the RadioCentre and the RAB, the hit40uk team will be looking at further network programme opportunities to complement the success of networked shows such as the hit40uk chart and the A-List.

Michael O’Brien, operations director at the RadioCentre, said: “The arrival of the hit40uk team and the launch of the first combined site for commercial radio mark the beginning of an exciting new phase for the industry.

“Developing networked programming and all the opportunities that successful national radio content brings for brands aiming to connect with listeners, will be a vital area of work for the RadioCentre going forward.”

The creation of the RadioCentre, which was announced earlier this year (see Commercial Radio Creates Single Body To Strengthen Industry), sees the Commercial Radio Companies Association (CRCA) and the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) join forces with the Radio Advertising Clearance Centre (RACC), network programme company hit40uk Ltd and JICRIT (the Joint Industry Committee for Radio IT).
