Marie Claire Cover Marie Claire, IPC SouthBank’s flagship women’s glossy, is partnering with Picsel Technologies, a leading mobile technology company, to launch Marie Claire Mobile.

Launching later this spring, Marie Claire Mobile will be a weekly subscriber based service, providing readers with topical fashion and beauty features, insider shopping tips and recommended best buys. It will also have a guide to the best events that week, horoscopes and entertainment reviews.

Richard Johnstone, Marie Claire publishing director, said: “Web and mobile technology is clearly playing a greater role in our readers’ lives. So giving readers the ability to interact with Marie Claire on a mobile platform is an exciting opportunity both for them and advertisers.”

Imran Khand, Picsel’s CEO, commented: “We are honoured to have been entrusted with delivering the richness of Marie Claire‘s brand and content onto mobile, which will work in tandem with the print publication.

“The advent of this mobile service offers new and exciting opportunities for advertisers and readers alike, that was simply not possible through the traditional print medium.”

Marie Claire Mobile will be edited by Marie Claire web editor Carla Bevan and will promoted regularly in the magazine and will have a strong presence on marieclaire.co.uk.

Marie Claire Mobile will be available on any wap-enabled mobile phone and will be a paid-for subscription service with weekly updates.

Marie Claire underwent a revamp with its November 2006 issue, intended to give it a “grown-up” feel and a focus on fashion, celebrity and real life (see Marie Claire To Unveil New Look).

At the last ABCs, for January-July 2006, the magazine saw a decline in circulation of more than 50,000 copies (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Women’s Monthlies Market Still Volatile).

ABC figures for July-December 2006 are released on February 15, with NewsLine providing comprehensive coverage of all key areas of the results.
