In Style Adds New Format

InStyle Magazine A travel sized edition of woman’s monthly magazine In Style is set to launch from its April issue, which is on sale at the beginning of March.

IPC SouthBank has announced that the smaller format of the fashion and style title will be sold exclusively in WHSmith Travel outlets in railway stations and airports.

Publishing director Kirsten Price said: “Travel is a key time for magazine purchase and convenience is an influential factor. Readers on-the-move will now have the chance to enjoy In Style‘s unrivalled celebrity access and expert fashion know-how, in a convenient, more portable format.”

The move coincides with the completion of several key editorial changes, including a reorganisation of the flatplan that has created dedicated beauty, life and home sections. There is also redesign and the introduction of more fashion stories and style features.

In Style‘s redesign looks fresh, lively and colourful, and gives a sense of space even though the pages are packed with useful information,” said In Style editor Trish Halpin.

“I’m delighted with the finished product: it continues to deliver In Style‘s trademark service and value but in a more luxurious package that is easy to navigate from start to finish.”

Point-of-sale in WHSmith Travel stores will promote the launch of In Style‘s travel size edition and the April issue will be bagged with the magazine’s annual Best Fashion Buys supplement.

Despite a 3% year on year increase in its circulation in the volatile women’s monthly market in the latter half of 2005, the title boosted its sales marginally in the first six months of 2006 to leave it with a total circulation of just over 197,000 (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Women’s Monthlies Market Still Volatile).

In Style last month announced that it is launching a UK website, which will go live in April (see IPC Launches New Website In Style).

ABC figures for July-December 2006 are released on February 15, with NewsLine providing comprehensive coverage of all key areas of the results.
