Telegraph Media Group cuts 50 jobs

Telegraph Logo Telegraph Media Group’s management told its staff today that 50 editorial staff will be made redundant.

The job cuts, which are thought to represent a 13-14% saving to the editorial budget, will be brought into effect by Christmas, according to reports.

Staff at the publishing group said they had been expecting job losses of this scale, especially in areas of the group that reduce pagination, including production and print.

News of job cuts at TMG come just hours after Trinity Mirror announced plans to cut around 78 posts in the north-west of England and north Wales.

Trinity Mirror’s regional newspaper job losses across the area have reached more than 100 in the last 24 hours.

Independent regional publisher Cumbrian Newspaper Group also plans to shed up to 30 jobs and freeze the pay of its remaining employees.

It was also revealed today that three senior executives from Newsquest’s operation in the north-west have left the company, two weeks after the departure of two others in the same area.
