Daglish Set To Leave As Global And GCap Sales Teams Merge

Global Radio GCap’s national sales director, Simon Daglish, is set to leave the company following the planned merger of the Global Radio and GCap Media’s sales teams.

Ashley Tabor, founder of Global Radio, announced to his staff that Daglish would be departing and the teams would come together in a central London location by the autumn.

He said: “My intention is to have the commercial integration completed by November 1. All our brands will be sold together from one sales point here at Leicester Square.”

Daglish is reportedly leaving GCap to join Channel 4 as the commercial head for its planned digital radio venture.

He is expected to take up his new post, managing advertising sales across E4 Radio, Channel 4 Radio and Pure 4 radio, at the end of November.

John McGeough will temporarily replace Daglish at GCap, though the merged sales business is expected to create a number of job cuts within the two companies.

GCap has made around 160 people redundant and Global Radio has seen some job losses since the merger, however, the sales teams have yet to be affected by the takeover.

The combined GCap and Global group will be the UK’s biggest commercial radio business when the takeover is fully complete.

The companies managed to avoid being referred to the Competition Commission after they offered to divest a number of Midlands stations, including Heart 106 in the East Midlands (see Global Offers To Sell Off Midlands Stations).
