ABC Results Jan-Jun 2008:Take A Break Stays On Top Of Women’s Weekly Market

Weekly Magazine The latest consumer magazine ABC figures show that H Bauer’s Take A Break once again topped the women’s weekly market, with a total circulation of just under 982,000 copies.

However, the title suffered a slight year on year downturn, of around 3.5%, taking its circulation below the one million mark.

Northern & Shell’s OK! enjoyed a year on year circulation boost for the January to June period, of 9%, taking its total figure to 607,000 copies.

Star was also up year on year, by 13% or 33,000 copies in real terms, giving it a total of more than 287,000.

Grazia received a slight year on year boost to its total, of around 3%, giving it a circulation of just over 227,000.

However, several titles reported year on year circulation falls for the six month period, including some in the celebrity focused market.

Closer reported a dip of 7.5% year on year, to leave it with a total circulation of more than 527,000, while Heat was down by almost 16% year on year, leaving its total at around 470,000 copies.

Reveal dipped by around 20% year on year, leaving its total at 277,000.

Fellow Natmags title Real People fell by around 25.5% year on year. It now has a total circulation of just over 230,000 copies.

Bella now has a circulation of just under 192,000 copies, down from more than 247,000 for January to June 2007, after a year on year fall of around 22.5%.

H Bauer appointed Julia Davis, former deputy editor of OK!, as editor of Bella in January, replacing Jayne Marsden, who left after four years in the hot seat (see Bauer Appoints New Bella Editor).

Pretty much a non-mover circulation wise was IPC’s Woman, with a total figure of over 370,000.

Woman unveiled a new design and price rise in February, featuring new sections and a larger format (see Woman Unveils Second Revamp In 18 Months).

IPC’s Now and DC Thomson & Co’s My Weekly were both down by 9.5% year on year, leaving them with circulations of 447,000 and 155,000 copies respectively.

There was a fall of around 28,000 copies, or 7%, for News Magazines’ Love It!, which saw its circulation drop to just over 372,000.
