BBC To Introduce Series Stacking

The BBC is set to introduce series stacking to the iPlayer and programme sites from 13 September, allowing viewers to catch up on any episode after it has first been broadcast, for the duration of an entire series.

Highlights of the BBC’s autumn schedule being series stacked include new BBC One dramas Merlin and Tess Of The D’Urbervilles as well as shows from BBC Two, Three and Four.

Series stacking extends the catch-up availability window for individual episodes beyond seven days after their transmission, giving viewers the opportunity to catch up on multiple episodes, up to a maximum of 13.

Simon Nelson, controller of multiplatform and portfolio, BBC Vision, said: “Series stacking will really make the unmissable, unmissable.

“Now, you’ll be able to join a series half way through following a friend’s recommendation and catch up on all the previous episodes – or watch them all in one go over a weekend.

“Series stacking marks a key development in our strategy to let audiences view our programmes whenever and wherever they want.”
