ABC Results Jul-Dec 2008:Coast makes waves in the home interest sector
Although the overall trend in the home interest sector was of declining circulations, a couple of titles did manage to show some growth.
National Magazine Company’s Coast was up an impressive 14.7% year on year according to the ABC figures for July to December, taking its circulation to more than 42,000 copies.
Country Homes & Interiors, published by IPC Media, enjoyed a boost of around 2% year on year, taking its total to around 88,500 copies.
The title introduced a new look in October, giving the magazine a new logo and placing more emphasis on country living (see New Look For Country Homes & Interiors Magazine).
Remaining pretty steady year on year were Ikea Family Live with a slight rise of 0.5% and Homes & Gardens, which remained relatively static.
Ikea Family Live‘s circulation now stands at more than 300,000, while Homes & Gardens‘ rests at over 140,000.
Although Real Homes Magazine dipped 3.5% year on year, it was up period on period by 1.5% to 68,000 copies.
The largest year on year declines in our analysis were for BBC Homes & Antiques and BBC Good Homes, at around 25.5% and 23.2% respectively.
BBC Homes & Antiques now has a circulation of just over 75,000 copies, while BBC Good Homes has a circulation total of around 97,500 copies.
25 Beautiful Homes shed 14.2% of its circulation year on year, leaving its total at around 102,000 copies, while Your Home was down over the same period, by 10.9% to more than 107,500 copies.
House Beautiful and Living etc both fell by 8% year on year, to around 161,000 and 86,500 respectively, while Ideal Home was down by almost that amount, to 197,516.
Also losing around 8% of its circulation year on year was Period Living, which reported a January to December ABC figure. It now has a circulation of around 48,500 copies.
