The Radio Authority has re-awarded the ILR licence for the Brixton area to Choice FM and also re-awarded the licence for Thamesmead to RTM. A new FM licence for St Albans and Watford has been awarded to Century Radio. This Century Radio is not connected to the group of the same name which has won the new regional licence for the North East.

National Youth Radio Network, a consortium headed by former Radio 5 managing editor Jim Black, is to bid for the INR3 licence. The consortium proposes to fill the gap that will be left when Radio 5 relaunches as a news and sports service later this month. The deadline for applications for the third national commercial licence is next Tuesday.
