Jim Marshall has stepped down from his role as executive director of Starcom Media Group UK with immediate effect, although he will continue to act as a part-time consultant to the company for the next six months.
Marshall, who is considering setting up his own consultancy, has been with the Publicis Groupe network since January 1988 and was part of the management team that created the consolidated Starcom MediaVest Group.
Stewart Easterbrook, chief executive of SMG in the UK, said: “He’s very much going to be around the agency in the months to come, he will be an integral part of our combined COI buying pitch with I-level for example.”
Marshall is not expected to be replaced over the coming six month transition period, but his client facing responsibilities will be shared out among other senior executives at SMG.
During his 20-year long tenure, Marshall has also held the chief executive job at MediaVest, an agency that he helped to launch in 1991.
