The latest ABC consumer magazine figures reveal a mixed picture in the home interest sector, with about half of the titles in our round-up recording circulation increases in the Jul-Dec 2009 period.

Leading the pack is National Magazine Company’s Good Housekeeping, with a total circulation of around 430,000 copies following year on year and period on period growth of 1.1% and 4.9% respectively.

The same publisher’s Country Living also enjoyed boosts to its total figure for the period, up 4.6% year on year and 2.8% period on period, taking its total to almost 198,000 copies. In what was a pretty good six months for the company’s home interest titles, House Beautiful‘s circulation was up 4.3% year on year and 12% on the first half of 2009. It now has a total figure of around 168,000 copies.

Also on the up in the second half of last year were Hubert Burda Media UK’s Your Home, with an impressive 21% year on year rise taking its circulation to more than 130,000 copies, Media 10’s Grand Designs, up 10% to almost 28,000 copies, and IPC Media’s Living etc, up 5.8% to almost 92,000 copies.

IPC Media’s 25 Beautiful Homes recorded a slight year on year increase, up 1.6% on H2 2008, taking its total to around 104,000 copies, although stablemate Homes & Gardens was not so fortunate, with a 5.8% year on year dip leaving its circulation at around 132,000.

There was a 5.2% year on year decline for Ideal Home, which now has a circulation of under 188,000 copies, while a 6% fall gives Conde Nast’s World of Interiors a 62,000 total. And with a similar fall of 6.6% year on year, fellow Conde Nast title House and Garden‘s circulation now rests at just under 131,000 copies. Both publications were relatively static period on period, however.

Elsewhere, there was a relatively large decline of around 20% for BBC Homes & Antiques, published by Bristol Magazines, leaving its circulation at just over 60,000 copies. It was up period on period, however, by 11.4%.
