Ellen Brush, managing director of Axon Publishing, has been elected the new chairwoman of the Association of Publishing Agencies (APA), which became independent of the PPA in January.

Brush takes over from Martin MacConnol, CEO of Wardour, who has held the position since 2008.

Brush founded Axon with Paul Keers in 1994 and has since worked with clients including Marks and Spencer and the NCT.

MacConnol: “I’m pleased to be handing over the reins to a stalwart of the industry such as Ellen.

“It is an extremely exciting time for the industry and I have no doubt that with Ellen’s drive and leadership in combination with the experience and commitment of Julia Hutchison, COO and Patrick Fuller, chief executive of the APA, the customer publishing industry will continue to excel and punch above its weight in terms of media share.”

Hutchison said: “We’re looking forward to getting Ellen on board as the new chairwoman.

“Her experience in the industry speaks for itself and I am extremely confident that she will pick up where Martin left off, helping propel APA into its next phase of growth.”
