Connected TV is “going to be the most interesting thing to happen in the UK [TV] market,” according to the Broadcast in a multi-platform world panellists at MediaTel Group’s Media Playground 2010 event today.

LoveFilm’s Lesley MacKenzie said the next five years is going to be “much more interesting” because of connected TV, while SeeSaw’s Ben Williams said the television industry should expect to change at a much quicker rate over the next five years.

“Connected TV breaks down barriers,” Anna Bateson from YouTube added.  “It fits into your life in an easy and accommodating way”.

However, from an agency view, Michael Beecroft, digital trading director at Mediaedge:CIA, said “advertisers need to reassured and communicated to” when it comes to connected TV and other developments in the television industry.

“They need to be talked to in a language they understand, so they can realise how new technology is going to make money for them,” he added.
