76% of US online females will use internet to connect with family and friends this summer

According to Unicast, connecting with family and friends this summer is the highest priority of American female internet users.

76% of them said they planned to use the internet for this reason.

67% of women also said that they wanted to keep up-to-date with news and current affairs, and 64% said they would be shopping in the online sales.

Only 59% said that they intended to entertain themselves by playing games, listening to music or watching online video, and 48% will research holidays or travel.

The sites they were most likely to visit were:

  • Search engines: 75%
  • Shopping sites: 60%
  • Social network sites: 60%
  • News sites: 48%

The adverts that appeal to women the most are:

  • Sales or discounts: 46%
  • Opportunities to win a prize: 31%
  • Customised local information: 24%
  • Interactive survey or quiz: 22%

Women mainly noticed adverts for entertainment (35%), food and drink (33%), health and beauty (33%) and fashion or clothing (33%).
