Almost one in three mobile users believe their phone will become their primary entertainment device in the future as well as play a big role in managing their social lives, according to new research from Experian Simmons.
The 2011 mobile consumer report found that nine out of ten adults own a mobile phone; over half (56%) of smartphone users access the internet via their phone and 30% of iPhone users want to shop via their handset.
In addition, 20% of social network users access their account from a mobile phone each month, up from 11% in 2008.
“The explosion in usage of mobile technologies is an industry game-changer, and marketers need reliable insights to better understand this rapidly changing landscape,” said Ken Wollenberg, general manager of Experian Simmons.
