ABC Logo The latest ABC consumer magazine figures, for January to June 2008, see free magazines topping the men’s lifestyle sector, while Glamour and Take A Break have the highest circulations in the women’s monthly and weekly sectors respectively.

Men’s free weekly magazine Shortlist is the men’s lifestyle title with the highest circulation, at more than 481,000 copies, followed by fellow free mag Sport, with a total figure of well over 315,000 copies.

There was a notable dip for Maxim, down by around 59.5% year on year, and seeing its total circulation fall from around 108,000 in June 2007 to just under 44,000 copies in the latest reporting period.

In the women’s monthlies, Conde Nast’s Glamour enjoyed a small increase in its circulation, at around 1% year on year, taking its total to over 551,000 copies.

However, there was a relatively large decline for fortnightly circulating title More!, which suffered a year on year drop of 37.5%, leaving its total at almost 163,000 copies.

Take A Break, with a total circulation of nearly 982,000 copies, remains the market leader in the women’s weeklies, although it was down by around 3.5% year on year.

Overall, Skymag, given away to all Sky subscribers, had the highest circulation of any consumer magazine, at 7.4 million copies.

Looking at actively purchased titles though, the TV listings guides reigned supreme, with TV Choice on almost 1.4 million copies, followed by What’s On TV at 1.3 million and Radio Times at around one million.

The figures listed in NewsLine’s ABC reports are those reported by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) as at Thursday 14 August 2008. Late submissions and changes may be made after this date, and will thereafter be amended in MediaTel’s Press database.
