Adshel Shakes Up Local Sales Unit With New Appointments

Adshel has restructured its regional sales team with the appointment of Joanne McGawley and Peter Halpin, as the respective heads of local sales in the north and the south of England.
McGawley will manage a team of 23, with responsibility for local direct sales in the HTV, West Country, Granada and Yorkshire Tyne-Tees regions. She will also oversee local direct sales in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, Halpin will lead a team of 20, with control over local sales in the Central, Carlton and Meridian areas, as well as at Birmingham International Airport.
The two new local leaders will report to regional sales director, Nora Flannery, who commented: “It is my great pleasure to announce that we have introduced a new senior management team whose responsibility it will be to continue to steer local sales forward. It is our aim that we will be better equipped to offer a more dedicated and structured approach to winning business at a local level.”
She added: “We have undertaken an extensive recruitment drive for the first quarter of 2003 and have further plans to expand the team throughout 2003 in all regions.”
Both team leaders have a background in regional newspapers: McGawley previously worked at the Manchester Evening News, while Halpin joined Adshel fresh from the Leicester Mercury.
Earlier this year Adshel secured the street furniture contracts for Coventry and Canterbury in two separate deals worth a combined £6 million (see Adshel Secures Street Furniture Contracts Worth £6m).
The outdoor industry has been performing well recently and the latest figures from the Advertising Association show that the sector saw expenditure increase by 1.9% year on year during 2002 (see Outdoor Growth Boosts UK Adspend During 2002).
