ADVERTORIAL DIFFICULTIES EXAMINED

The increasing use of advertorials carries legal difficulties, which are examined in a new quarterly newsletter from the PPA and law firm Clifford Chance. Advertorials must not mislead readers as to the origins of the feature. The current guidelines are explained in the Media Law Review. Other topics covered in the first issue are the law on privacy, the Lord Chancellor’s proposed changes to UK libel laws, and the threatened changes to the VAT status of magazines.
