Aerodeon Launches SMS Campaign For Chupa Chups

Mobile marketing group Aerodeon is launching a viral SMS campaign to promote lollypop brand Chupa Chups.

The three week campaign is targeted at 10 to 18 year old males and females. Aerodeon will utilise SMS databases from high profile media owners – T4, CD:UK and Galaxy Radio.

Participants in the campaign will be given the opportunity to become Chupa Chups squad leaders and to create a unique squad name. They can invite as many friends as possible to join with one single text message. Each invitee in turn receives a branded text message from Chupa Chups asking them to recruit friends to join the unique squad. The UK’s biggest squad will win a year’s supply of Chupa Chups lollipops.

Text messaging has become an increasingly popular mechanism for advertisers seeking to capture the teenage market. While brand owners have become increasingly aware of the value of databases of mobile numbers and magazines such as Sugar, and more recently Emap’s Sneak have set up “text gossip clubs” (see Sneak To Offer SMS Interactivity).
