Bacardi Signs World Cup Sponsorship Deal With Rivals
Rivals Digital Media has signed a five figure World Cup sponsorship deal with Bacardi, which will see the creation of a microsite featuring the Bacardi Breezer Tom Cat character.
The microsite is set to launch towards the end of May and will sit across the Rivals and 365 networks. The site will be updated daily during the World Cup and its run up, with a member of the rivals editorial team taking on the job of “being” Tom Cat. The concept is that the cat has travelled out to Japan and Korea and will give his own reports on events.
In addition to the microsite, Bacardi Breezer will receive marketing across both Football365 and Rivals football network, including banner ads, pop ups and prominent links placed on the homepages of Rivals.net, Football365.com, WorldCupRivals.net and WorldCup365.com throughout the tournament.
Graeme Harrison, director for Subway 10, who brokered the deal, said: “The aim of this deal with Rivals was to create an exciting and entertaining standalone site for Bacardi that will capitalise on the excitement created by the World Cup.”
Last month Rivals announced that its World Cup SMS information service is to be sponsored by another drinks brand, Carlsberg (see Rivals Teams Up With Carlsberg For World Cup).
