Bauer partners Bristol think-tank for campaign marking Race Relations Act anniversary

Designs4Change, a competition marking the 60th anniversary of the Race Relations Act, has announced 10 winning artworks that are now live across digital OOH sites in the UK.

Supported by a donation of media space worth £100k from Bauer Media Outdoor, the campaign forms a nationwide gallery that celebrates creativity, community and diverse voices.

The artworks reflect themes of justice, equality and protests, and will be shown at Bauer-run sites at bus stops, shopping centres and train stations until 30 September.

Winning artists attended a showcase presenting their work on a giant digital screen at We the Curious in Bristol on Thursday (28 August) — a day marking both the Bristol Bus Boycott and Martin Luther King Jr’s “I have a Dream” speech in 1963.

Bauer partnered Curiosity UnLtd, a Bristol-based think-tank, for Designs4Change. It was launched as part of the Bristol Bus Boycott 360 initiative and builds on their 2024 collaboration.

Martin Corke, chief marketing officer at Bauer Media Outdoor, highlighted the importance of “elevating voices that demand to be seen and heard, whilst reinforcing our role in public spaces”.

“Designs4Change is more than just an art competition,” Julz Davis, disruptor-in-chief at Curiosity UnLtd, added. “It’s a movement for representation, recognition and resilience.”

Some of the winning artworks will feature in a national tour, Tapestry of Black Britons, after 30 September, followed by an exhibition during Black History Month in October and a youth symposium at We the Curious on 10 November.
