BBC Annual Report 1995/96

According to sources, restructuring in the BBC over the last year has been a complete success. The annual report shows a £300 million cut in costs. Top programmes such as Ballykissangel and Pride and Prejudice have been screened due to the cost savings and changes behind the scenes.
Viewing share in London is higher than ITV ITV Autumn ’96: More Events Than Ever!, with the gap in national figures becoming closer. Net income, from world wide sales, has increased from £55 million to £77 million, again because of the likes of Pride And Prejudice.
The BBC also acknowledge additional jobs may be lost as they prepare to compete in the digital age.
