Sir Christopher Bland has been named as successor to Marmaduke Hussey as Chairman of the BBC Board of Governors from 1 April 1996. Sir Christopher Bland is a previous Deputy Chairman of the Independent Broadcasting Authority.
Virginia Bottomley, National Heritage Secretary commented, “Sir Christopher .. understands the commercial and technological challenges which the BBC is facing. His expertise and experience will be invaluable in the development of the BBC of the 21st Century.
