The BBC has unveiled its team to lead the Corporation’s new multimedia division, BBC Vision, which launches today.
Simon Nelson will lead the team as controller of multi-platform and portfolio, having moved from his role of controller of radio and music interactive at the BBC. He will oversee the strategy for multi-platform services and content and will develop interactive digital services and the implementation of schedules to new platforms.
Bal Samra has moved from his position as chief operating officer for television and controller of rights and business affairs to the new role of director of vision operations and rights, whilst Keith Scholey, former controller of factual production, has been appointed deputy chief creative officer for BBC Vision Studios, the operation’s integrated production house.
Sandy Maeer, previously controller of TV operations, has moved to the post of head of executive office for BBC Vision.
The appointments are part of a long-running restructuring by the BBC to create the new division, which is responsible for commissioning and nurturing programmes on multimedia platforms such as the internet and mobile phones.
Jana Bennett, the director of BBC Vision, said: “I’m thrilled by the talent and experience of the people we’ve got on board. The new Vision team is shaping up to be one of the strongest, most creative top teams anywhere in British media.”
