BBC Stuffs Olive With Harrods Supplement

The BBC’s new food and travel magazine, Olive, has announced an exclusive deal with London’s prestigious Harrods department store to provide the retailer with a glossy, 24-page supplement promoting its latest Made in Italy range.

The partnership will see the supplement distributed with the October issue of Olive, on sale from 8 September, giving readers details of key events during the Harrods promotion and providing an extensive selection of innovative recipes.

In addition, the supplement builds on Olive‘s highly regarded gastronomic reputation, with a run-down of six key Italian food-producing regions, as well as offering readers the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Lombardy.

Food-loving readers will be further tempted by an exclusive Italian food evening at Harrods, thrown especially for Olive‘s audience on 5 October. Visitors will receive a goody bag and will be treated to food and wine tastings, demonstrations from top chefs, and a 10% discount on purchases.

In addition to supplement’s inclusion with Olive, copies will also be available in the Harrods Knightsbridge store during October, as well as being included with the Evening Standard‘s ES magazine throughout September.

Commenting on the extensive promotional tie-up, BBC Food Group publisher, Nicki Hill said: “Harrods Food Hall is a great place to try out the best in new and traditional foods and wines and Olive‘s food and travel expertise ensures we can provide the best in Italian gourmet information for the themed supplement.”

Earlier this month BBC Magazines celebrated a milestone half a million subscribers to its range of publications, marking a record-breaking response to increased investment in subscription marketing. The company’s newest launches; Easy Gardening, Olive and Songs of Praise magazine, all performed well, signing up 30,000 subscribers between them despite being less than 12 months old (see BBC Magazines Celebrates Half A Million Subscriptions).
