BBC2 Arts Shuffle Drops Late Show
BBC2 is to drop The Late Show, its arts and media programme at the end of the year, according to BBC2 controller Michael Jackson. Newsnight will however remain at its 10.30pm slot.
BBC2 will instead run a regular arts documentary earlier in the evening for a broader audience, similar to C4’s successful Without Walls, broadcast at 9pm. Jackson said that although there will be more peak time arts programming, budgets would be cut. The Late Show’s slot will be filled by a new range of programmes, including science. Newsnight will cover more arts stories.
