BSkyB Adds 92,000 New Customers

Skybox BSkyB added 92,000 net new customers in the three months to the end of June, taking its total base to 8.98 million, with group revenue for the year growing 9% year on year to £4.9 billion.

The fourth quarter saw the company add 200,000 net broadband subscribers, taking its total subscriber figure to 1.62 million.

It also added 321,000 Sky+ customers in the fourth quarter, as well as 33,000 Sky+ High Definition customers.

Quarterly annualised churn fell by more than two percentage points year on year to 9.8%.

Group operating profit, at £752 million, was in line with analyst expectations.

Jeremy Darroch, chief executive, said: “We have continued to grow strongly in a more difficult consumer environment. More customers are choosing Sky for a broader range of products and are staying with us for longer.

“While there is much uncertainty around the consumer environment, there remains good headroom for profitable growth in our core sectors. We are well equipped to meet customers’ demands for quality, choice and value; and we have a strong financial model to deliver growth and returns.”
