BT Ads – One To Forget
Propeller Marketing’s latest quarterly survey of “Ads That Make News” shows BT’s “It’s One to Remember” ad campaign has come out top. The campaign failed to raise sufficient awareness of BT’s Phoneday, leading to thousands of complaints; consequently it was the most written about ad campaign in the national press during April to June 1995.
Guinness came second in the league of most written about ad campaigns, following suggestions that a future TV campaign could feature a gay couple. Third was Ariel, because of the BBC’s sacking of Carol Vorderman for appearing in the ad. The Guardian was again top for running stories about ads, followed by Today and the Daily Mirror.
