BT Openworld Secures Christmas Campaigns

BTLookSmart has secured a range of new retail ad plans with high street brands and online e-tailers to provide them with search targeted marketing solutions in the run up to Christmas.

The group has secured an advertising deal with Argos, which will see the high street retailer appear in banner ads and featured listings. Other high street brands including Tesco Electricals, 02 and MFI have signed up to BTLookSmart’s performance listings, which allow advertisers to link specific pages within their web sites to keyword searches in search directories, on a cost-per click basis.

Kevin Kerrigan, chief operating officer of BTLookSmart, commented: “IMRG, the industry body for global e-retailing, estimates that £2 billion will be spent online by ten million internet shoppers in the November and December run-up to Christmas. This is a huge market and e-tailers are looking for the best methods of driving online shoppers to their sites.”

Lingerie e-tailer, Figleaves, has also signed a five figure ad deal, which will see it run ads across the BTLookSmart network, including performance listings. Fashion group, La Redoute, is also using performance listings in a bid to drive pre-Christmas web traffic.

Earlier this month MSN launched its own ad campaign to promote Christmas shopping across its site (see MSN Launches Christmas Ad Campaign).
