Cabs Claim Ad Victory Over London Transport

A new report by the London Research Centre and BMRB shows that taxi advertising reaches 60% more businessmen in London than the Underground. The report was compiled from 60,000 interviews.

Taxis reach 99% of the general Central London audience, roughly measured by the area within the Circle Line, compared with the Tube’s 38%. Taxis are seen by 88% of chairmen and managing directors in London and 63% across the UK. In terms of journey time within central London buses scored 14% and taxis 95%. In general, there are seven times more taxis than buses in this area.

The report also revealed that Taxis’ external advertising reaches 45% of professionals/employers/managers compared with the Undergound’s external reach of 29% within the same category. Also within the same category, taxis’ internal advertising reaches 47% and the Underground 29%. Of those people who earn more than £40,000, 39% see Taxi ads and 18% see Underground ads. Taxis carry 204 million passengers a year, 47% of which are ABs.
