Carlton’s £45m bid for Independent Television News, has hit trouble. There is now mounting speculation that The Office of Fair Trading, which has been probing the deal for three months is to refer it to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.
The grounds for the enquiry are that Carlton and LWT own the main domestic rival to ITN, London News Network.
