Carlton Secures IKEA For Cinema Campaign

Carlton Screen Advertising has secured Swedish furniture group IKEA to launch its first ever cinema advertising campaign as part of a wider push to build brand awareness amongst potential customers.
The campaign will feature a range of ads that have been running on terrestrial television channels since November and will launch across national cinemas for four weeks beginning in January 2004.
The deal, which was negotiated by IKEA’s media agency MediaCom, also includes access to Carlton Screen Advertising’s ‘Oscars’ package, which ensures the ads will run across all the award winning films.
Commenting on the deal, Fiona Walford, director at MediaCom, said: “Cinema is a first for the IKEA brand and the ideal medium to showcase the visually inspiring new communication and we are hopeful that the Oscars Package will provide some fantastic results for our client”.
Carlton Screen Advertising recently secured Sminoff as the first brand to use its recently launched IMAX cinema advertising package, with a campaign running across three of the 60 foot-high screens in London, Manchester and Bradford (see Carlton Secures Smirnoff For New IMAX Cinema Package).
The latest figures from the Cinema Advertising Association show that the success of Disney’s aquatic animation, Finding Nemo, helped UK cinema admissions to reach 17.3 million in October (see Nemo Is Box Office Catch Of The Day In October).
