Carlton Secures Smirnoff For New IMAX Cinema Package

Carlton Screen Advertising has secured Sminoff as the first brand to use its recently launched IMAX cinema advertising package.

The campaign, featuring a specially created 60-second execution, will initially run across three 60 foot-high IMAX screens in London, Manchester and Bradford, before launching across a further three screens next year.

Carlton Screen Advertising claims the new package will become a crucial new channel for advertisers wishing to showcase campaigns on the UK’s biggest cinema screens. Brands will also be able to take advantage of foyer spaces to run supporting promotional and interactive campaigns.

Commenting on the new format, James Dobbin, Carlton Screen Advertising’s account director of sponsorship and promotions, said: “This is a brand new and innovative opportunity for advertisers to completely immerse the consumer in their brands.”

He added: “With IMAX technology nothing else exists in the viewer’s visual field making an IMAX advert possibly the most impactful in the world.”

Carlton Screen Advertising plans to increase it IMAX package to include the 36 sites on the continent and even those in North America. The company’s chief executive, Debbie Chalet, said: “We now control over 52% of the US market and operate in 11 territories in Europe.”

The latest figures from the Cinema Advertising Association show that the success of Disney’s aquatic animation, Finding Nemo, helped UK cinema admissions to reach 17.3 million in October (see Nemo Is Box Office Catch Of The Day In October).
