An attempt by the Council of Europe’s Health and Family Affairs Committee to ban alcohol advertising on television was rejected by the Council’s Parliamentary Assembly following strong lobbies from the AA and other affected bodies. The ban was part of a wider set of recommendations on alcohol.

The Council of the ITVA (071 636 6866) has issued a statement confirming that the Marketing Committee’s decision to cease the publication of monthly revenue figures at the end of 1991 (Newsline 27/9) has been adopted.
