The Cable industry has issued a statement regarding the OFT’s comments on BSkyB’s new ratecard. In the statement the Cable industry disagrees that no new evidence had been presented to the OFT and it says that the industry is seeking an opportunity to discuss the issues directly with the OFT.
The cable companies believe that BSkyB’s new ratecard is not in the interests of the majority of consumers and will require ‘the majority, if not all, cable television subscribers to pay for BSkyB services regardless of whether they want them or not’. The Cable industry say that they will be considering the details of the OFT’s announcement, and its full report when it is published.
