Channel 4 Launches Celebrity Big Brother Campaign

Channel 4 has launched its marketing campaign for Celebrity Big Brother 2, due to begin later this month.

The campaign, created by Foundation 33, will comprise of one execution to run on Golden Square poster sites. There will also be radio ads and carefully placed campaigns in celebrity weeklies.

Katie Hayes, Marketing Manager at Channel 4, commented: “The new series of Celebrity Big Brother will be a great way for viewers to see well-known faces take part in the Big Brother experience. We wanted to reflect the unpredictable nature of the series and to heighten the anticipation and excitement that surrounds the series in the lead up to transmission.”

The Big Brother format has been a huge commercial success for Channel 4 and Endemol (see Big Brother Bigger Than Ever For C4 And E4). However, the recent ratings dissappointment of reality music show Fame Academy on the BBC, may suggest that reality-tv fatigue is setting in.

The first Celebrity Big Brother in aid of Comic Relief in March 2001, raised more than £500,000 and the tabloids are already full of speculation over the line up of the new show, with Graham Norton, Spice Girl Mel B and fomer EastEnders actor Michael Greco among the names mentioned.
