Channel 4 To Broadcast Night-Time Sport

Trans World international (TWI), the world’s largest independent producer of sport, has received a unique commission from Channel 4.

Starting on 10th April and running for seven weeks, TWI has been asked to produce a six hour, overnight sports programme each Wednesday, from midnight until 6am the following morning. Called Nightsports With Imlach, the magazine format is being presented by NFL specialist Gary Imlach. The show will cover world sport and draw on TWI’s international network of sports programming.

The magazine format will feature sports guests, a live event such as basketball or ice hockey, individual programmes like extreme sports show High 5 and a round-up of the evening’s sporting events. The programme will also interact with the audience, inviting telephone callers to speak to sporting figures.

Bill Sinrich, Head of Production at TWI, commented: “We are delighted that C4 has chosen to entrust us with such a major block of UK national airtime. We believe that such themed schedules are popular with audiences and that sport will attract an audience increasingly less served by other terrestrial broadcasters.”
