Channel 4 Winter Schedule Launch

Channel 4 today launched its Winter schedule. Some of the highlights include; Hearts and Minds, a four part drama about inner-city idealism under threat, by Jimmy McGovern (creator of ITV’s Cracker) which the channel hopes will be this years GBH.
New documentary series include; Secret Lives,a look behind the image of some of the 20th Century’s icons such as Walt Disney and Jackie Onassis; the Number 10 Show which allows ordinary members of the public to be Prime Minister and set about their domestic policies; and Naked News which exposes the bitterly competitive American news media.
New comedy series include Squawkie Talkie, a natural history programme with a difference, Ellen which carries on straight into the second series and Beavis and Butt-Head return for a three hour late-night Moronathon.
Environmental programmes include Encounters which returns to Sunday nights, a new series of the award-winnning Time Team presented by Tony Robinson, the 3,000 Mile Garden which has two enthusisats exchanging tips and information across the Atlantic between London and Maine, and The Pulse, the only programme for health consumers.
Film on Four premiere ends with a season of films celebrating the work of Pasolini and contemporary women directors such as Jodie Foster’s directorial debut in Little Man Tate.
