Chrysalis Radio Allows Listeners To Talk On The Internet
A week after the launch of its first radio stations on the Net (see Chrysalis Radio Launches On The Net), the Chrysalis Radio Group will soon allow online listeners to access its services via their telephones. A deal with Motorola allows callers to use voice commands to search the web.
The new technology is called PersonalOffer and will recognise voice commands from the caller to search the web for information provided by the radio station, such as details of songs played and forthcoming local events. It will allow them to purchase CDs at any time of the day.
This type of technology expands internet access beyond home computer ownership, allowing broadcasters to extend their services. Phil Riley, chief executive officer of Chrysalis Radio said: “With the PC-centric internet, we can deliver our service to those listeners with PCs. In partnership with Motorola’s voice-browsing technology, we can reach all our listeners, as all mobile and fixed phone usere are included.”
