Chrysalis To Represent All GMG Stations

Guardian Media Group has announced that it is to move Jazz FM’s sales operation from Clear Channel Radio Sales (CCRS) to Chrysalis.

CCRS was only acquired last month but is to be sold on to Radio Investments Limited, in which GMG is a major shareholder.

Chrysalis will now represent nationally all five GMG Radio stations – Jazz FM London and North-West and Real Radio Wales, Scotland and Yorkshire. Operations had been split with CCRS since GMG’s £44.5 million acquisition of Jazz FM in June.

“We have naturally thought long and hard about starting our own in-house operation but it is clear that the timing of this is not right,” said John Myers, chief executive of GMG Radio.

“We have also considered the great job that Chrysalis have done for our group and this, together with our excellent working relationship, means that it makes good sense to add the Jazz brand to their sales portfolio.”

CCRS, which generates annual revenues of approximately £5 million, is to be renamed Radio Sales Limited and will move to new premises in London. The organisation currently represents national sales for around fifty stations in the UK.
