City Talk 105.9 Launches With Major Marketing Campaign

Radio City Talk 105.9, Emap’s new Liverpool-based speech radio station, will launch on January 28 supported by a major marketing campaign.

Using the station’s strapline of ‘The Voice of Liverpool’ as inspiration, the campaign which will be rolled out across Merseyside over the next six months.

The six figure campaign was created by Liverpool-based agency Ampersand in conjunction with the City Talk marketing team led by Emap’s North West regional marketing director Liz Larner.

The station’s presenter line-up includes: Trisha Goddard, Michael Brandon, Simon O’Brien, Dean Sullivan, Margi Clarke, Ian St. John, Ian Snodin, John Aldridge, Phil Easton, Kim Hughes and Pete Price.

‘The Voice of Liverpool’ campaign runs from January 28, across a variety of media including: print, 48 sheets, mega rears, bus wraps and taxis. There will also be local press ads revealing the station’s schedule.

The presenter line-up is the main visual thrust, intended to allow listeners to better engage with the voices they hear on the radio and reflecting the ethos of the station.

Richard Maddock, City Talk 105.9 station director, said: “The statements provide insight into each presenter’s opinion, style of show and most importantly engages them with the audience. The campaign is deliberately opinionated and willing to push the boundaries. It has character and really puts the presenters out there in the public domain.

Larner said: “The strap line – The Voice of Liverpool – is representative of an all-speech, local station. Through below-the-line and on-air activity the station will provide a voice for all, allowing people to have their opinion, irrelevant of being right or wrong.”
