Cosmogirl Launches With £5m Campaign

Natmags are planning a marketing campaign thought to be worth around £5m to coincide with the launch of their new teenage title Cosmogirl and the accompanying website cosmogirl.co.uk.

Cosmopolitan‘s little sister (see Natmags Unveils Launch Date For CosmoGirl!), will launch on Thursday 20th September and will be accompanied by an advertising campaign that will span TV and radio and will include retail partnerships with brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Debenhams, Miss Selfridge and Clinique.

Natmags hopes that the campaign will allow them to tap into the stubborn teenage market before the launch of Emap Elan’s Elle Girl later in the month.

Natmags have signed a three month deal with the Pepsi Chart Show to sponsor the programme’s number one pop song and will promote the first three issues of the magazine with regular ad spots on the Sunday night radio show.

40 second Cosmogirl ads will also air on all four UK MTV channels to support the launch of the first issue and the website.

Group Publishing Director, Jan Adcock, said; “Teenage girls are notoriously hard market to reach but we’ve been working on this launch for over two years and we’re confident that this combination brand building via TV and radio, direct contact with readers and partnerships with some of the most aspirational teen brands will catch their attention.”

Extensive instore promotions will also see Cosmogirl host “beauty days” with cosmetics brand Clinique in Debenhams stores around the country, while the October and November issues of the magazine will be promoted by Miss Selfridge.

The magazine will also be supported by 60,000 counter displays in WHSmith, Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores around the country.
